Tarun N. Surti is a serial entrepreneur who has mentored numerous aspiring entrepreneurs, an inventor with over fifteen patents, a community advocate, and a dedicated volunteer leader in nonprofit organizations.
He holds a Master of Business Administration specializing in nonprofit management, along with degrees in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
He is married to Lata Surti, a retired special education teacher, and is the father of Vivek Surti, owner of Tailor Nashville—an upscale restaurant recognized as one of the top ten in the United States. Vivek is married to Sheela Surti, a podiatrist in Nashville. Surti also has a daughter, Zarna Surti, who serves as Vice President of Nike, North America.
He previously served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence, founded by the late Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi.
Currently, Surti serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the International Hindi Association, which is dedicated to the protection, preservation, and promotion of Bharat’s rich cultural and literary heritage—both ancient and modern—through Hindi and other Bharatiya languages.
He is a Paul Harris Fellow and a former Rotarian, a former board member of Watkins College of Art, Design & Film, and a past president of the India Association of Nashville. He is also an active member of the Hindu Temples of Nashville and a founding member of the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO), the Gujarat Literary Academy (GLA), and the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA).
Recently, Surti, acting as a Pro Se litigant, defended his patent before the Supreme Court of the United States.
He is also actively defending homeowners’ rights against abusive HOA practices in Davidson County.
Surti is an avid gardener who enjoys his daily morning walks and occasional hiking. He has a passion for photography and takes great interest in reading the spiritual texts of Bharat.
